This illustration of the Church Hill neighborhood Richmond, Virginia was completed by hand and with watercolors as a part of my second series of Richmond illustrations. I was inspired to create this by my experience living in Richmond, by the responses and requests from my customers and by the strength these businesses have embodied in order to survive the pandemic, in turn keeping our city an exciting and innovative place to live. Our community as a whole as well as our communities of individual neighborhoods, as small businesses, artists, essential and non-essential workers have all been strengthened through the challenges presented by the pandemic and I want celebrate that through art.
This print features the following businesses of Church Hill= Liberty Public House, Union Market, Patrick Henry Pub, The Hill Cafe, Metzger Bar and Butchery, 8 1/2, Sub Rosa Bakery, St. John's, Grisette, Scorpio Rising, Riverbend Coffee, Alamo BBQ, Anthony's on the Hill, The Roosevelt and Libby Hill Park.
