This 8.5"x11" vertical poster is a print recreation of Madison Pollard's original watercolor design.
In her own words, "I was inspired to create this as the fourth in a series of illustrations during the spread of Covid-19. Richmond, VA is a city of restaurant culture and a community of unique small businesses. As these restaurants have all been affected by the pandemic, I wanted to pay homage to their humbleness and their stories.
This 11" x 8.5" print of Richmond, Virginia's staples was drawn with pencil, painted with watercolor, then drawn again with fountain pen. The print features some of the most distinguished, timeless and underrated establishments and organizations of Richmond.
This print includes Postbellum, Plan 9, Wax Moon, Saison, Irie Ting, Comfort, En Su Boca, Plant Bar, historic St. John's Church, Metzger Bar & Butchery, Kokonut Grill, the Camel. I also used an illustration of a pitbull to represent the many wonderful animal rescues in Richmond= Richmond SPCA, Richmond Animal League and Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation.
This print has about a 1" border of white which leaves it perfect for framing. It is printed on matte, poster-grade paper. It does not contain a watermark on the front.
This would make a great gift for someone who loves Richmond, for one who once lived in Richmond or a fan of these local staples."
